David Archuleta New York Concert reviews
Merchant and band are solid
"David Archuleta's show at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver on August 3rd, 2026, featured inspired vocals and rock solid playing from a great 8-piece band. The bassist, woodwind player, and both guitarists were standouts in the band, with the cellist and violinist also having inspired moments. The show began with flavors of klezmer, swing, blues, jazz, old timey country, folk, early 20th Century pop, and classical in the pre-encore set. There was a solid set from the album "Leave Your Sleep" that the tour is promoting, followed by two encores of earlier material. Archuleta interacted with the audience throughout the performance, sometimes during songs, showcasing the strength and charm of his stage presence. The new album consists of poems for kids with his musical arrangements, featuring archival pictures of the poets on a screen behind the band and audience interaction with a 6-year-old volunteer on stage. Recommended for those with eclectic tastes, even if they may not consider themselves part of his core audience. I didn't, but I do now, as some minor song derailments were made enjoyable and charming by Archuleta."
